Game Description:
A great warm up activity that incorporates a wide range of skills!
Objective:
Getting the children warmed up and practicing different locomotor skills in a funny and creative way!
Game Rules:
The children all start the game spread out in the given area. The leader names an object in the room/space (e.g. something green, a wall, your best friend, a teacher, a table, etc.). Then the children have to run over to that object, get down on their knees and 'worship' the the object by repeatedly bowing and exclaiming "oh, (wall) we worship you, you are the greatest!" The leader should change the object continuously and give the children different options so they're not all in one corner (e.g. a wall, a window, a door) and identify good examples so the children can be as creative as possible.
Saftey Considerations:
Remove any stationary objects the kids can run into or trip over. Be cautious and spread the kids out as much as possible so they are not running into each other.
Adaptations (optional):
Incorporate different locomotor skills into this game. Instead of simply running to the different objects, the leader can ask the children to skip, gallop, hop, jump, etc. to the new objects called out.
