Horsey, Horsey, Neigh

Game Description:
Sheriffs chase down galloping horses and turn them into pitchforks.
Objective:
Be the last horse not turned into a pitchfork by the sheriff!
Game Rules:
This game is very similar to the classic gym game "Ollie Ollie Octopus". Mark out a playing space with a tagging zone in the middle. Choose two children to be the sheriffs, and the rest of the children will be horses; sheriffs can run, and horses must gallop. The sheriffs stand in the middle of the tagging zone, and the horses all go to one edge of the playing space. The sheriffs call out "HORSEY HORSEY," and the horses reply "NEIGH," and gallop across the playing space (passing through the tagging zone). If a horse gets tagged by a sheriff, they become a pitchfork and must stand in one place with their arms in the air like a pitchfork. Horses who run out of bounds also become pitchforks. Pitchforks are allowed to tag people with their hands, but they are not allowed to move their feet. The game is over when all horses are turned into pitchforks, or a few champions horses are left. Choose new sheriffs and start a new round!
Saftey Considerations:
Ensure the playing space is clear of debris and that all shoelaces are tired. Remind children of 'heads up' running/galloping.
Adaptations (optional):
If children can't gallop, or want to try something different, you can offer them the option to run on all 4 limbs like a real horse!
